Dr. Scott Futch has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years—and he'll tell you the career chose him. It started with a school report on orthodontics that sparked something unexpected: a genuine fascination with how dentistry changes people's lives. That fascination led him to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, one of the top programs in the country, and eventually to Reno, where he's built a practice grounded in one simple idea: the best dentistry starts with actually knowing your patients.
Recognized as the Best Dentist in Northern Nevada and a Best of Reno RN&R 2024 honoree, Dr. Futch has earned that reputation not through marketing, but through the kind of care patients talk about long after they leave the chair. Dr. Futch earned his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University before graduating from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1990—consistently ranked among the top dental schools in the nation. But he didn't stop there.
In 1998, he completed advanced training at the prestigious Dawson Academy, known worldwide for its rigorous approach to complete dentistry and occlusion. In 2006, he pursued further study with the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry, deepening his expertise in how teeth naturally function and wear over a lifetime. These aren't weekend seminars—they represent hundreds of hours of advanced clinical education that most general dentists never pursue.
Dr. Futch maintains active membership in the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association, and Northern Nevada Dental Society.

Outside the office, Dr. Futch is a true Nevadan. He spends his free time fishing, camping, and hiking in the warmer months, and hitting the slopes when winter arrives. He shares those adventures with his wife of 34 years, Liz, and their rescued Siberian Husky, Leroy—who, by all accounts, is settling into the family just fine.
Dr. Futch's children remain an important part of his life, and his roots in the Reno community run deep. When you visit the practice, you'll get the sense that this isn't just where he works—it's where he's chosen to build his life.
